A German officer betrays his wife and children to the Gestapo and they are taken with others to a place of death. The trucks are ambushed, the prisoners escape and are taken to England. The husband is accused of freeing the prisoners and is put to death.

His journey through varying planes of life takes him into dire circumstances (man made). His wife and children are put on a farm to work where love comes to them and from the terror of Germany they find happiness in the English countryside.
