The Wealth Of Sleeping
This is a peculiar title because it is often felt that nothing can happen in sleep, good or bad. It is not known that one can know exactly where one is going after the death of the earth body; one goes according to one's living that is followed out here in the earth, and whether it beautifies and fulfils the work of the soul or gives nothing to the soul, only to the body, that is one's own prerogative.
Recognising the value of the time of sleep, when and how one sleeps and with whom one is when sleeping does make a tremendous difference to where the self goes and to when it will know where one is going. Not all people can say, "Yes, I know where I am going." They can in a measure know what they are doing and if they will be below the earth or higher than the earth. That is something that a good many people have no knowledge of whatsoever.
At this junction I have to speak from my own experience to prove my point - I have done everything that I mention in this paper, not one part of it will be hearsay, read about or even talked about without being done. The full action of which I speak has taken place in my later and earlier life. I therefore can put it down with truth and honesty. This of course could be proven by everyone that actually needs in some form or other to express themselves, and also to find any answer to their problem.
Earning money in sleep
Firstly I would speak about the problem of money and what it is possible to do in sleep to earn money that will come into the earth in some form or other. When I say in some form I mean it could
come in food, it could come in utensils that can be used, in something that could be turned into cash or cash of itself.
Here is one incident that happened after my father passed away. My father came to me one night and told me that my brother had had him buried in a short sleeved shirt, which he had worn on holiday. My father was wearing it and he certainly did not look his old self in it, it made just that much difference. He was most unhappy not to have sleeves that he could roll up because he knew he was going to do some work or other; he was never a man for sitting about and doing nothing and he loved the soil. He said to me would I go and buy him a shirt. I had bought him shirts before, therefore he knew that I would understand what he wanted.
I went the next day and bought the shirt. The amazing thing was that when I returned I had a phone call from my son and a letter was waiting. My son said, "You must be very hard up!"
I said "Why?"
He said, "Because I have been worried all day yesterday, over something or other concerning money where you are concerned. You were asking for five pounds."
But I thought to myself, 'That's the price of the shirt.' So I spoke of this and he laughed.
He said, "Well, I thought you were hard up and I sent ten." So I made myself extra money on that deal. I put the shirt on a shelf and I sent a thought into the ethers so that my father could come and get it and show me himself in it, which he actually did. I thanked him for the money - it had been he who had worried my son to send the money for the shirt. That is how one can work with the Spirit, or with a friend or relative when there is love in the family.
Work with the Spirit
Another incident is related to my poor mother in her time, especially during the strike, the main strike after the first World War, when my father and my brothers who worked on the railway were out
of work.
My mother said, "Hum, I think I will go and do some cooking."
I thought myself, 'I wish I could do some cooking too and earn myself some money.' My mother got herself a job and she helped at that time when it was necessary and even afterwards, for the money was never very good for anyone working on the railway, no matter what they were doing.
I also started cooking. I had been married with children, so I could cook for many. In my sleep I found myself in a large kitchen, wearing a cook's apron and cap; I was cooking a full meal for a large family in a mansion house. This told me a very great deal: there are mansions in the worlds unseen and there are people who live in the mansions. There was quite a number, not only one family but a number of people working.
To do everything with love
They were doing everything with love; I was told that this is the way that they are tested to find out just exactly what they felt when they were doing the jobs they had to do. If anything was done
and the brain was not too agreeable to it, they went into a lower vibration and were not left in that mansion.
It was a vast excitement amongst the workers to do the right thing; with the right state of mind they learned how to be tolerant, to be patient, to be kind with one another - not like on the earth with the unions restricting everyone having a job to do and helping no one else - one did what was necessary and did it very happily.
The mistress said, "Mrs. Franklin, I want you to cook a meal and I hope you will join us to share in it before you return back to the earth."
I said, "Well, I will see what time I have, for I have a family and a sick husband."
"Oh," she said, "then maybe another time."
I cooked the meal and remembered doing it. I remember fully laying the table for a large number of people and one or two helping me to make the table look pleasant, with little mats and flowers and all the cutlery just as if one was having people to a good meal in the earth. The meal at last was put upon the table and I went to get my hat and coat and the mistress said to me, "You have done well Mrs Franklin, come again."
I said, "Most certainly, I will!" I had loved being with them.
Much to my surprise, money came the next day. I had not asked for it but it came and I was very grateful at that particular time. So my mother earned the money in the earth and I earned the money when I was asleep, we both did much the same.
The way that one thinks
This may be news to you; I hope it is, for it should be realised that it is very important the way that one thinks oneself, there would not be an invitation to work if one was not at one with the
self and happy in doing any job that was asked of oneself to do. Because I was at one with this I really did enjoy myself the whole night through and was not tired.
I remember someone else saying to me, "Oh Mrs Franklin, my legs did ache the other day!"
I said, "What were you thinking about?"
"Well, before I went to bed I thought, 'I must tidy up this place, my children have left it in an awful muddle'."
I said, "And you took that into sleep with you."
She replied, "Well, I suppose so."
I said to her, "That's the trouble, you were clearing up all night, and therefore running about quite probably after this one and that one of your children wherever they were, and thus getting aching legs when you woke up in the morning. So the sleeping time must have been just as busy for you as it was during the daytime."
