A Disturbing Visit to the Astral

Sometimes at night I like to go outside and gaze up at the vast array of stars in the vault of heaven, still beautiful despite the light pollution in the township where I live. On several occasions earlier this year I could see without binoculars the planets, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and even Uranus, in their endless wandering (from our perspective) through the constellations of the zodiac.

But since then, until only very recently, the skies have been completely covered with cloud for weeks at a time, day and night. It puts me in mind of something from the Studies on Life literature, that if people on the earth do not turn from intolerance and hatred, the outcome will be a permanent blotting out of sun, moon and stars. I know that many people will laugh at that. So let me tell you of an experience I had a number of years ago out of the body, visiting a plane of life below the level of earth.

I was somewhere that was dark and gloomy, driving a car. I came to a checkpoint and held out my identity card. Something made me think the guard was American. After looking at me somewhat suspiciously he directed me to go through an archway and then turn right.

I drove the way he had told me, although everywhere was immersed in a damp and grainy grey mist. Visibility was therefore very limited, and even though it was daytime there was no light from the sky.

I stopped my car, got out, and began walking around. I could now see a little further in front of me, and wondered if by being there you got used to the general murkiness.

It was then that I looked back and saw some youths interfering with what I thought was my car. I hurried towards them, only to realise it wasn't mine after all. I knew my car was red, but this one – like everything else in that place – was totally devoid of colour.

Having seen enough I quickly found my car, jumped in, and drove out through the archway. At that point I came back to my body.

This is my interpretation. I had evidently been in an astral vibration lower than the earth. This part of the astral is where people passed over from the earth make their home if having not learned to consider others. Here there is no colour in anything and the atmosphere is damp and unpleasant, and yet the residents evidently accept it as normal. The fact that I could perceive my car as being red (a colour that signifies strength of purpose) meant that I didn't belong there, I'm glad to say. However, it was still a privilege to be allowed to witness the conditions natural to the people there. It showed me what a place is like without the light from the soul.

And as to whether this could happen in the earth itself, I would suggest that the downwards spiral has already started. It is easy to put the blame on to others. The truth is, however, that the mind of every single person on each level of life, including the earth, affects the conditions of where they live. To bring in change we should start by examining closely the feelings we hold on to, for each feeling is a creator for good or for bad. Being appreciative of everything that is good, however small, will send out from our aura a bright and powerful colour that helps clean the atmosphere about us. A small beginning, but one which can be added to by asking that we might learn during sleep how to enlarge the light. Try it, for as one seeks so shall one find!
